DINET INCORPORATES SIX WOMEN TO DRIVE DUMP TRUCKS IN A MINING COMPANY'S SINKHOLE
With proper training, the six female drivers professionally took on the task of extracting ore and waste rock through narrow tunnels and galleries.
The incorporation of this first group of women is part of Dinet's equity policies and a request from its client to incorporate female personnel.
Contrary to all the prejudices and stereotypes that exist in mining, the mining contractor Dinet incorporated into its team of drivers the first promotion of six female dump truck operators for underground mining, who have been performing very efficiently.
With proper training and instruction, the six female drivers took on with great responsibility and professionalism the operation of large dump trucks in the narrow galleries of underground mines to extract ore and waste rock and to bring in heavy tools and equipment for the mining operation.
The incorporation of this first group of women is part of the Dinet logistics company's equal opportunity policies and the need to support one of its major mining clients in the incorporation of female personnel in mining activities, which have traditionally been carried out by male personnel.
In their first weeks of work, this first group of women has shown a lower turnover rate than their male counterparts and they carry out their work with greater detail and thoroughness, which favours the provision of services with high safety standards. The number of women operating Dinet's mining dump trucks will increase as the infrastructure is expanded to accommodate more female personnel in the mining camps.
