Luis Miguel Maldonado, general manager of DINET, said during his participation in the Panel: From Service Providers to Supply Chain Integrators, at the 1st PROMPERÚ-GS1-APPROLOG Logistics Services Convention.
Regarding logistics dynamics, he indicated that there is a global trend toward concentrating operators because so many players in the chain are no longer needed. "60% of the companies that hired logistics operators worldwide during 2010 reduced their number to one or three operators in order to optimize competitiveness," he explained.
"We must understand the customer and the customer's market. The customer is not acting only in the market but is impacted by globalization and can reach out into the world. And the logistics operator must be able to respond to this changing world," he mentioned.
The challenge for logistics operators, he said, is to establish and become Lean Logistics, which means allowing the companies they serve to participate in their planning and decision-making processes.
